Personal statements are difficult to navigate without the proper guidance and it’s easy to make the ’wrong turn’. Given that personal statements are often the last opportunity to advocate for your candidacy for admission, it’s important to describe what led you to apply to your program of choice concisely and effectively. With Dr. Rothman’s professional guidance, I was able to showcase my background, experiences, and personal journey to medicine while highlighting the personal attributes that make me a strong candidate. Dr. Rothman is extremely effective in framing your ’personal story’, giving your applications a personal touch and a greater impact. After collaborating with Dr. Rothman on my personal statement to Post-Baccalaureate programs, I managed to secure admission at every school I applied to!
Applying for a graduate program/school can be a daunting task. On top of that, I found it challenging to find a consultant who had the right background and experience to help me with applications for bioscience Ph.D. programs, and who could understand and help me with writing in detail about my research experience. Dr. Barry Rothman was a perfect match. Dr. Rothman’s questionnaire approach allowed him to get to know my past with regards to research and academics, as well as my life experiences. This approach also allowed me to think about my past experiences and how they helped shape my future. He then helped me frame the information appropriately for the audience, guiding me to articulate coherent storylines and elevating my whole application, even the technical aspects, making each piece of writing as impactful as possible.
Not only did Dr. Rothman help me during the application writing stage, but his expertise and guidance helped me stand out during my preparation for interviews. He asked me questions I had never been asked before or even thought of regarding my past research, making me think about my research more holistically and critically. When occasionally I froze and drew a blank with one of his questions, he showed compassion, didn’t pressure me, and pointed out exactly what I needed to work on and review. In essence, his interview prep “over-prepared me”, and in turn, I felt relaxed and confident going into the actual interviews. After receiving an admissions offer from a top-ranking PhD program, he gave me honest and reassuring advice that helped solidify my decision.
Dr. Rothman was a great mentor throughout the whole process. He is professional, compassionate, straight-forward, thorough, and just a nice person. He is someone I can reach out to for advice on anything I may encounter during my graduate studies. That’s invaluable.
Good news!! The director of Case Western’s MS in Applied Anatomy program called me to say that I’ve been accepted !! Thank you for the time and effort you put in making my story come through my application. I couldn’t have gotten in without your help!
Within two weeks after my first interview, which happened to be at my top choice for attendance (and an MD school no-less), I got a phone call from the Dean of Admissions that I had been accepted! They even told me that I was a very competitive applicant and one of the first people accepted into their class. I was over the moon by this news, and Barry was one of the first people I reached out to regarding this. I felt like we had reached this accomplishment together as a cohesive team working toward a common goal. And we did it!
Whenever anyone asks me about how I got to this point of holding an acceptance at one of the top medical schools in the country, I explain that I couldn’t have done it without Accepted, specifically with Barry. Here I am, an applicant who was initially told by others to give up, now labeled as one of the most competitive applicants they have had this year. I tell everyone to reach out to Accepted whenever they’re ready to start the process. Admissions companies are expensive, but Accepted is far more reasonably priced than others, and the money is well-worth it! You will not be disappointed in your investment; it is the best choice I have made in years.
BARRY!!! I just wanted to share that I GOT ACCEPTED TO UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON!!!!!!! I just got the call from the Dean a few minutes ago and wanted to tell you the great news! :) I also wanted to thank you for all that you’ve done to help me, it has definitely worked wonders and I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate it.
I am writing this email to express my deepest gratitude to you and Dr. Barry Rothman. Over the course of the last five months, I have been working closely with Dr. Rothman on my graduate nursing application for Nurse Practitioner school. Dr. Rothman provided a safe, non-judgmental space for me to vocalize my feelings and experiences. His feedback throughout this process was thoughtful, and often pushed me to be a better writer.
However, his support did not end there, he was an excellent resource during my interview process by providing mock interviews. With the guidance I received from Dr. Rothman, I was allowed to create a clearly written personal statement full of passion, maturity, and growth. In fact, the head of the program sent an email stating how much she enjoyed reading my personal statement. Initially, I was very hesitant to apply to any program, I possessed a severe lack of confidence due to my not so stellar grades from my first undergraduate degree.
In fact, I was hesitant to apply to Duke University, after some encouragement from Dr. Rothman I applied and was accepted. I am truly grateful for all of your help, and you are nothing short of amazing. Thanks for believing in me at times more than I believed in myself.
Simply put, Dr. Barry Rothman played an integral role in my getting accepted to medical school. It was only upon working with Dr. Rothman that I realized how disorganized and poorly formatted my application was. Dr. Rothman taught me how to better articulate and organize my thoughts and worked with me to help me find the right words so I could truly express what was in my head and in my heart. Finally, I cannot doubt Dr. Rothman’s expertise. His knowledge regarding the entire medical school application process is astounding. He truly is well versed in helping his clients and catering his advice to specific applicants. For our mock interview, we prepared not only “general” questions but also questions specific to my application to best prepare me regardless of what medical school admissions would throw at me.
Ultimately, I’m incredibly happy with the decision I made to work with Accepted.com and Dr. Barry Rothman specifically.
I began working with Dr. Rothman through Accepted after two unsuccessful attempts at applying to M.D. schools. I had little hope or confidence, but after working with Dr. Rothman I saw a dramatic change in how medical schools were viewing my application; I even landed an interview at a school I thought was huge stretch! Most importantly, Dr. Rothman became more than just a personal statement advisor in a formal manner, but rather, became a mentor for my whole application as well as in handling the stress of interviews and bad news. He really enjoys getting to know students and took the time to go over much of my life story to find inspiration for personal statements and essays. Using his feedback in crafting my essays and my interview responses, Dr. Rothman became an essential part of maturing my application and myself this cycle. I would highly recommend Dr. Rothman as an application advisor from Accepted.
Dr. Barry Rothman was a fantastic ally in helping me develop a strategy towards medical school and throughout the post-bac application process. With his incredible background as both a Biology Professor, Health Professions Advisor and a founder of a highly respected post-bac program, Dr. Rothman has the experience to draw upon in advising students. I initially sought out Dr. Rothman’s guidance to gain an overview of the different paths towards medical school, since I had already completed my pre-med requirements at Dartmouth College. Over the course of writing several essays for post-bac programs, Dr. Rothman pushed me to really dig deep on my answers, and challenged me to identify more compelling parts of my story. Dr. Rothman’s consistent and timely feedback helped me draw out my unique experiences, and highlight the most important parts of my story. Dr. Rothman knew how to give constructive feedback in a supportive manner, and his strategic advice gave me confidence throughout the application process. Most importantly, I felt that Dr. Rothman was extremely thoughtful and invested in my short- and long-term goals. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with Dr. Rothman, and I am confident that other students who have his support and advice will feel the same.
I got accepted to NYU dental! I wanted to take the time to thank you for all of your help, guidance and support. I know I was kind of an “underdog” but together we put together a solid application and made it happen! I cannot thank you enough.
Barry is the person you want in your corner when you are tackling the arduous task of applying to dental school. When I was looking for an advisor, I knew I wanted someone with the experience and track record of helping applicants like me achieve their goals of getting into their top programs. I was fortunate to find Barry when I did because his knowledge of dental school applications allowed me to not only apply one year ahead of schedule, but also receive an acceptance from my number one choice. Over the course of one year, Barry guided me through every step of the process from choosing which post-baccalaureate classes to take, to looking over my personal statement, to preparing me for the interview. I cannot recommend Barry’s services enough.
Barry was the advisor for me from day one. I had worked for over four years after graduating college before deciding I was going to pursue dentistry as a new career. Not knowing anything about how to begin, I was concerned that I would not have the knowledge to become a standout applicant. When I first met with Barry over the phone, I was most surprised by his positivity, eagerness to know my story, and patience as I navigated unfamiliar territory. Upon our first conversation, Barry had the ability to find my strengths as well as come up with a realistic plan of action for me to achieve my goals. I remember ending that conversation feeling like I had a shot at getting into dental school. Barry’s belief in me provided me with the confidence to put in the work and allow my dream to become a reality.
After carefully looking over my GPA and class history, Barry pinpointed the classes he thought I would need to prove to dental school admissions that I was a strong applicant who could handle a heavy graduate-level course load. Every quarter, I would show him my projected schedule and together we would go over whether the class was worth taking. Through his expertise as an advisor and a university professor, Barry’s guidance in selecting my classes ensured no time was wasted, I was saving money by only taking the necessary classes, and the level of difficulty was appropriate for me.
What could have been the most stressful part of the process ended up becoming my most triumphant all due to Barry’s help. After completing most of my post-baccalaureate classes, I was simultaneously studying for the DAT as well as working on my personal statement. I felt like I was juggling two critical aspects of my application in a short period of time. Barry put me at ease when he became an extra set of eyes for my personal statement by proofreading and giving me tips on how to improve. Any time I felt stuck or unsure about my writing skills, Barry was available to provide me with that extra boost of encouragement to continue revising until my message of why I wanted to become a dentist was clear. I was able to finish my written applications in a timely manner and take my DAT with assurance, knowing that I had given it my all and Barry was behind me to cheer me on.
Several months later, interviews started to roll in. The last step of my journey with Barry included mock interviews where we went over potential questions that could be asked. Although I felt confident with my interview skills, I was appreciative of the different strategies Barry shared with me to make the interview that much easier.
If you are considering an advisor for your dental school needs, look no further - Barry is the person you want.
While the outside world might be bringing us a mixture of positive and negative news, I do want to share with you something that is purely wonderful, and that is I got into the MPH program at Harvard! Although we did not work on a personal statement together for Harvard, I don’t think I could have gotten in without your very encouraging video calls and emails at the beginning of the application season. By talking to you, I started to see that those positive qualities of mine are much more solid than what I have previously realized. For this, I feel very grateful and fortunate to have known you and been your student.
This time around, I chose not to waste any time on decision making. I think one of the major messages I learned from you, as well as from my own experience, is to follow my gut. I took your advice and reached out to several professors and students at various schools, and this helped me secure a good gut feeling. I could have spent more time weighing between MS and MPH, but the fit that I could sense between my career goals and Harvard’s program waived all hesitations.
Barry helped me tremendously with my interviews for dental school. I was very nervous about it going in, but with multiple video calls, Barry coached me through different questions and gave me great advice. He is very kind, patient, and has a lot of experience with this, so I felt I was in good hands. I would not have been able to have such a successful interview without him!
I’m very fortunate to find Dr. Rothman (or Barry) to work with. It was my second year applying for PhD programs. I was very anxious not only because of the unpredictable nature of graduate program admissions, but primarily because I got rejected by all programs that I applied to during the last year. So I decided to find someone very experienced to guide me through. This year, I get offers from 7 fully-funded PhD programs, including Univ of Michigan, Univ of Southern California, NYU, Teachers College Columbia Univ., UC Davis and etc., and a Master’s program from Harvard University. I’m extremely happy about my results, which gives me a lot of confidence back. The reason I got improved is that Dr. Rothman has given me very honest opinion and suggestions for each step along the way, which improved my entirely portfolio a lot. He is super responsive whenever I need advice even during weekends/holidays. He helped me edit my personal statement and resume so many times, we together revised them version after version, the final product is a very well-written essay. He also kindly gave me tips about preparing for interviews (I was very nervous and shy). I would strongly recommend Dr. Rothman for anyone looking for graduate school or even college application consulting. He is super warm, caring, relatable and understanding personally, and also professional to work with.
I was nervous about constructing a narrative for my graduate school applications. Dr. Rothman got to know me as a person. He guided my writing process in a way that allowed me to write an effective personal statement that still felt like my own story. He instilled in me the confidence I needed to successfully apply to graduate school. I am going to one of my top two programs and I couldn’t be more excited!
I decided to apply to graduate school from a fairly non-traditional background. I had limited research experience, and had pursued seemingly disparate professional endeavors after college. I was nervous about constructing a narrative for my graduate school applications. Dr. Rothman, through phone calls and Skype interviews, got to know me as a person. He guided my writing process in a way that allowed me to write an effective personal statement that still felt like my own story. He helped me translate my experiences into a linear and coherent story. Barry is approachable, detailed, and quick to respond. He instilled in me the confidence I needed to successfully apply to graduate school. I am going to one of my top two programs and I couldn’t be more excited!
Barry and I get along really well and I felt comfortable talking to him; his feedback felt personalized and very relevant to my [PhD] applications. Barry provided blunt, helpful criticism that helped me dramatically improve my essays. He was honest, but I never felt like he was unnecessarily critical or negative. I thought the service was wonderful; I have a very restrictive schedule, and I am grateful that Accepted and Barry both accommodated my scheduling needs. I definitely would [recommend Accepted to friends and colleagues]!
Dr Rothman was incredible—we could not have asked for a better advisor to work with. He was kind, considerate, went beyond what we could’ve ever imagined. His impact on our daughter will be felt for years to come. I’d highly recommend him to ANYONE looking for assistance with this process. Dr Rothman corresponded with our daughter through email & skype. Anytime she had a question, he quickly responded and pointed her in the direction she needed. He worked throughout the weekend before their Skype call, even on a tight deadline to help her. His feedback gave her the confidence she so desperately needed as she walked into her interview. His ability to discern her weaknesses and season them with grace and kindness made a lasting impression. Our daughter is so thankful for the time she spent with Dr Rothman.
Dr Rothman was able to teach our daughter how to pace the interview & make a connection with each interviewer. He was able to help her see how to improve and grow in her capacity as a potential medical school student. He was always positive and framed her needs in consideration. I have a son who needs some interview assistance, and am considering asking Dr Rothman to work with him as well.
Fantastic experience! This service truly was a godsend!
Dr. Rothman helped my older sister get into medical school before me so I was familiar with his work and remembered how much his feedback improved my sister’s application. He helped me throughout the application process from my personal statement, to choosing schools, to interview prep. Over the many months we worked together, Dr. Rothman always made sure to check in on my mental health, offering compassion and support that was critical to keep me from getting discouraged. When beginning my application, Dr. Rothman helped me improve with my personal statement and activities. He helped me see a critical flaw in my application that weakened my chances in the incredibly competitive process. He guided me to edit my application so it emphasized all of my strengths even in areas where I had less experience. During crunch time of secondary writing, Dr. Rothman’s comprehensive organizational strategy was incredibly valuable as I completed a large volume of secondaries during a short period. As I began receiving interview invitations, Dr. Rothman helped me prep for various styles of interview from traditional, to MMI to the VITA.
I am very grateful for his thoughtful and honest feedback which helped me portray my best self during interviews. With his help, I was lucky to be accepted to medical school very early on in the cycle, saving me much stress and anxiety.
I have been accepted to Loyola’s MAMS program! I wanted to thank you for all of your help with my application. I greatly appreciate the effort and dedication you put forth in helping with this process. Once again, thank you for your help.
Dr. Barry Rothman served as an incredible line of help throughout the entire process of applying for PhD programs in Biomedical Engineering. He has a very solid fundamental understanding of the application process as a whole and is also highly capable of answering more specific questions that arise throughout the course of the applications. Specifically, Dr. Rothman was critical in helping me choose the best schools for myself given my academic standing and career goals, helping to formulate essay frameworks and to select good topics, grammar and flow editing of essays, deciding how to respond to specific questions that individual schools ask on their applications, and interview prep. His help enabled me to remain low-stress during these applications, as he was always an email or phone call away to answer any and all of my pressing questions.
I feel very fortunate to work with Dr. Barry Rothman during this application cycle. Under his guidance, I was successful in receiving admission into medical school. In addition to helping me select schools, Barry ensured that my application (both primary and secondary) correctly highlighted my strengths. Due to his advice, I was able to receive several interview invites. Dr. Rothman also helped me to prepare for the interview. Barry provided me with the information to understand what interviewers and admissions committees were looking for in a candidate, as well as proper responses to questions that could be asked. Furthermore, Barry helped to correct certain mistakes, such as rushing my answer or saying “Yeah”, in order to improve my interview skills. By coaching me for both the standard interview and MMI style interview, Barry ensured I was extremely well prepared for when my interviews were conducted. It is with utmost regard that I recommend the service of Dr. Rothman, as I would not have been in such a position without his expertise.
I started applying to molecular biology and biochemistry doctoral programs essentially by myself. Though I was in communication with my undergraduate institution’s career services center, it had been multiple years since I graduated and I lived on the opposite side of the country. I lacked an academic community or a mentor who could provide me real-time feedback on my personal statements and statements of purpose. My initial drafts for these documents were decent, but I knew they could be better. I contacted Accepted.com hoping to find someone who could help me improve my application materials.
I feel very lucky to have been paired with Dr. Rothman. In addition to providing excellent feedback on my drafts and the general application process, Dr. Rothman worked around my highly restrictive schedule to regularly meet with me over the phone. He was a great personality fit for my needs - empathetic but never coddling; blunt and straightforward but never unduly harsh. He was a consistently supportive and helpful presence during a very stressful period of my life. With his input, I was able to dramatically strengthen my graduate application materials and submit them proudly. Dr. Rothman then helped me work on my interviewing skills after I had been invited to interview at two of my top choice schools.
With Dr. Rothman’s help, I moved confidently through every step of the admissions process. I now feel much more optimistic about my graduate school options. I would recommend his services to anyone pursuing a graduate-level science education.
I was an unsuccessful pre-dental student for a long time. Last year, I found Dr. Barry Rothman on Accepted.com. I chose to work with him because the reviews of Dr. Rothman were appealing to me - high acceptance rate after working with him, and his personality.
Dr. Rothman communicated with me very well via email, phone and Skype throughout the whole application process. I don’t know when he sleeps, but I was able to reach him whenever I needed his help or advice. Before we got started, Dr. Rothman asked me series of questions and tried to get to know me as a person, which would help Dr. Rothman help me edit my essays and come up with personalized answers for expected interview questions. Through this preparation process, he even found strengths of mine that I wasn’t aware of. Seeing myself the way a reader or interviewer would see me (third person point of view) really helped!
Dr. Rothman helped me improve my personal statement, disadvantage statement, and several supplemental essays. His edits were wonderful, and they didn’t sound generic. It was because he knew me so well before he edited my essay, so he could edit them in my point of view.
Dr. Rothman’s mock interview sessions were also really helpful. He told me what I should say and what not to say. He corrected my bad habits. Every answer for each question was personalized. He asked me to do an extra no-cost mock interview after one session to make sure my interview skills were strong. I could see his sincerity. He brought out the best of me, and I made it through this overwhelming process with a dental school admission. Dr. Rothman is very professional, and I would definitely recommend Dr. Rothman to anyone who is motivated and seeking help on dental school applications and interviews.
I did mock interviews with Prof. Barry Rothman for a Harvard University doctoral program. My biggest fears were that (1) I did not know what questions to expect; (2) I had no idea how to structure my answers in an efficient manner; and (3) I suffered from a little anxiety about the interview and hence needed to prepare psychologically, as well. Prof. Rothman was very quick to get back to me after I submitted my request on Accepted.com. On our first call, we went through my entire graduate application and some of the questions the interviewers may ask. During that call, I was taken aback by how valuable Prof. Rothman’s input was. He helped me address my known fears head on and more importantly, he mentored me on certain elements I to improve on that I was not aware of. As the saying goes, you don’t know what you don’t know.
The second call was the official mock interview, during which Prof. Rothman asked some of the questions we discussed on our previous call to test my preparation. However, he also had some questions that we did not discuss at all, and I was surprised by my ability to answer those too. Not only did this help calm my nerves, but it also was a fantastic way to test my adaptability to interview variability, making sure I stay focused on telling my story as a strong candidate for the program, and that I was steering clear from regurgitating memorized answers. Last but not least, Prof. Rothman is super friendly, highly experienced, and genuinely cared about my success for the interview. I am happy to say that because of his mentorship, my interview was a huge success
It was amazing working with Dr. Rothman. He helped me with my personal statement and the interview process. He was there for me every step of the way. Am sure he was working with other clients, but he made me feel like I was the only one; I never felt rushed. Dr. Rothman made sure I could access him through phone, email and skype. He used writing prompts that made me think long and hard about not only my educational and professional background but also my whole life; this helped me bring out my strengths. Dr. Rothman professionally edited the PS while making sure my voice was present. During the interview session, he made sure I practiced on how to connect with a panel and well as other interviewees and how to appear engaged. I worked on how to pace myself and pause before answering the questions. I can tell you I was over-prepared me for the interview. I was invited for an interview and by the time I left the school I knew I had nailed it! The time I spent with him was invaluable. Thank you Dr. Rothman for making me look good on paper and in-person.
I contacted Accepted looking specifically for essay help. I knew that I was capable of writing an essay, but I would have focused it on my dedication to the program and the work that I have done to get to this point in my life. I would have come across as a one-dimensional person that may have been ready for graduate school but didn’t have much else to offer the program. Accepted matched me with an Accepted mentor, Dr. Barry Rothman, who was in the same field that I was applying to. Barry was able to ask directed questions to help me discover my own well-roundedness and helped me craft essays that reflected my non-program related interests. Barry’s experience allowed him to reveal information about me that was weaved into my essays without coming across as jarring or bragging. During the writing process, Barry’s comments and edits were not Barry inserting his own voice into my work but instead they were a guiding hand that allowed me to see where I could improve my own work. These comments and edits were suggestions that I could take or not take, since it was my own work, and I controlled the final outcome. I was accepted into the one PhD program to which I had applied. Barry and the Accepted team were very responsive and friendly. Barry truly cared about my success and I think that I made a friend along the way. - Accepted to PhD Program
Working with Dr. Rothman was instrumental to my success during my PhD interviews. We began to work together with limited time, just a few days before my interviews were scheduled, and Dr. Rothman was very flexible in working around my tight timeline. I also began the process low on confidence and high on anxiety: The pandemic had cut short my research experience, which anyone applying to PhD programs knows is typically the most important element of your application. Dr. Rothman is not only highly knowledgeable about the application process in general but is also himself a trained biomedical researcher. He knew exactly what kinds of questions I was likely to be asked, and his scientific background allowed him to probe expertly into my research interests. During our first meeting, he was able to quickly identify where my preparation was lacking, and which areas my interviewers were likely to focus on. He pushed me to better understand the broader narratives and goals of the projects I was involved in rather than simply my individual role within those projects. He also reminded me to always slow down and breathe! With Dr. Rothman’s help, I had just enough time to complete my preparation and I entered my interviews calm and confident. I was admitted to my top choice PhD program.
I worked with Barry on my application to a Post Bacc program. As a result of his guidance and hard work, I am currently in the program of my choosing and well on my way to applying to becoming a non traditional medical school applicant! As a “career changer”, the prospect of entering the medical field is intimidating and unfamiliar. I have no family or friends that work in medicine. The daunting application process certainly doesn’t help. Barry served as an invaluable resource for me. He was able to demystify what post bacc programs appreciate in their applicants and identify what attributes made me competitive. He is also an excellent writer which was SO HELPFUL. I gave him about 5 pages worth of nonsense stream of consciousness which he somehow managed to magically turn it into a concise (yet compelling) personal statement. I am extremely grateful that I took the leap and made the investment as I know I would not have been in this program if it weren’t for him.
Barry is compassionate, insightful, diligent, and just generally a very pleasant person. You will love him! And the difference he will make to your application, and ultimately your future, is priceless.
Dr. Rothman was an excellent adviser to work with. I came to him with a very short amount of time left before my MPH application was due to work on my personal statement. I was very nervous about sharing all of the trials and tribulations I experienced over the years, but I wanted to put those in my application to help paint a better picture of me as an applicant. Dr. Rothman was incredibly kind and non-judgmental. He helped me figure out a way to address “red flags” in a positive light. Throughout the process, he was very responsive and provided me with reassurance that helped me be more confident overall. In a matter of a few days, we drafted ideas that helped me identify meaningful reasons for why I am pursuing an MPH degree. Because of this, I was ultimately able to write the most genuine personal statement I have written and one that I am proud of. It also helped me achieve the goal, which was getting into Johns Hopkins. Thank you Dr. Rothman!
I am so excited for the opportunity to go to medical school and achieve my lifelong dream of becoming a physician. I am incredibly grateful for your company that has been instrumental in my success this cycle. I cannot speak more highly of Dr. Rothman. He was a compassionate and wise voice throughout a very challenging year.
I can’t say enough good things about working with Dr. Rothman and Accepted. I was apprehensive about the process of having someone work with me on my application, but with Dr. Rothman’s gentle guidance and critiques, I felt at ease. After my first round of applications, I was then accepted to my top nursing school choice.
My deadline for this application had been moved up three months, and I was completely stuck on a few of the essay questions. With only two weeks to go, I was concerned that I had waited too long to ask for help. However, Dr. Rothman’s expertise on pre-nursing programs, the application cycle, and necessary nursing school candidate qualities were crucial. He provided prompts to help spark ideas and looked over my application, noting things I should add to clarify or make my points stronger. His turnaround time with edits and pointers was incredibly fast, especially when he informed me he was technically on vacation but was still working with me early in the mornings. When I told him I was accepted to my top choice, he booked a free Zoom session to congratulate me. Don’t hesitate! Book a session with Dr. Rothman.
When I decided to apply to Ph.D. programs in Biology, I felt lost about how to best complete my applications. I struggled with understanding how to be the best applicant I could and increase my competitiveness. When I figured I might need assistance, I did some google searching and found out about Accepted. While searching their website, I was especially drawn to their services when I came across Dr. Rothman’s strong experience and excellent reviews. As a Biology Ph.D. applicant, help from a Biology Ph.D. Professor seemed most appropriate.
After reaching out to Dr. Rothman, I was able to have a consultation and discuss my options. Dr. Rothman’s confidence and calm nature encouraged me to proceed with purchasing a Ph.D. package for two applications. The package consisted of exactly what was written on the website. The services included in the package were exceptionally helpful in my application process. Furthermore, Dr. Rothman’s friendliness, sincere understanding of my family background, and easy availability made him a breeze to work with. Dr. Rothman’s help in crafting my writing samples for my applications has been strongly appreciated as it allowed me to easily transition from not knowing where to begin to confidently submit my applications.
Dr. Rothman has always been easily accessible in times of worry or searches for advice. When I was able to land an interview at one of the Ph.D. programs, I quickly reached out to Dr. Rothman. Dr. Rothman strongly prepared me within two sessions and made me a confident interviewee.
I am truly happy I made my decision to work with Dr. Rothman on my applications!
The medical school application process is long and arduous. However, the expert advice given by Dr. Rothman helped make the experience not only more manageable but also enjoyable. Barry is a true professional and was eager to help me throughout my medical school application journey, as well as accommodate and assuage my mother’s fears about the process. His emailed responses were delivered quickly and he was forthright in his advice to me as a client, which I appreciated very much. He was engaged, thorough in his assistance, and very knowledgeable about the application process. As a veteran admissions advisor, Barry knows the pitfalls that many students experience as they navigate the medical school admissions process. His steady guidance was invaluable to me, and I am pleased to say today that I have gained entrance into an excellent medical school. I would give my highest recommendation to Dr. Barry Rothman to assist any applicant to medical school and hope that he will continue his services for many more years! Thank you, Barry!
Barry’s support and guidance in my MPH application process has been invaluable for several reasons. As a corporate professional for many years, I have been away from the academics context for a long time, and Barry helped me understand what the admissions committee might be looking for, and how my materials such as Resume should look like. Given I had done my previous degrees outside the United States, it was also extremely useful to get Barry’s thoughts and advice on how academic institutions and their review process might be. Barry’s advice around all this gave me tremendous confidence that I was not shooting the dark without context.
I also appreciate Barry’s style of reviewing my preparation. He was subtle at dropping hints to improve my essays and actually making grammatical changes to the sentences without actually changing the entire story or intention I wanted to convey. He also offered advice around extracurriculars and additional experiences that might increase my chances of acceptance at the schools.
Overall, Barry’s support and review gave me the confidence that I was putting my best application forward. In the end, that also secured me acceptances from the majority of the top schools I was targeting, including the Ivy-leagues.
Dr. Barry Rothman was instrumental to my success in my Post-Baccalaureate application during the last cycle. I had set relatively high goals for myself from the get-go, and Barry was there to help guide me every step of the way. Initially, there were multiple getting-to-know-me zoom chats, which all concluded with a clear action plan where I would feel confident in the guidance I was receiving. In brainstorming ideas for my personal statement, I uncovered more experiences that I had initially brushed off as superfluous and it was truly special to see the years of activities, education, and professional stints come together to make an effective statement. I am certain that Barry’s patience, expertise, and unique approach helped me land an interview at my top school, and one of the top programs in the country! Barry also was there to guide me for the interview process, and provide constructive criticism that was key to landing an acceptance offer!
Thank you, Barry, for helping me navigate the arduous application every step of the way. The end result was spectacular and I couldn’t recommend Barry enough for medical-related admissions consulting.
Dr. Barry Rothman was a wonderful application advisor in my journey to apply for grad school. Given my untraditional background, computer science and design, Barry helped me navigate the application process, PTCAS, and what I needed to apply for DPT programs. I was able to apply a couple of months before the deadline and was able to provide an update letter to my application just before the deadline. Barry was quick to reply to any concerns I had and was generous with his time.
Barry was accommodating with scheduling meetings as we were in different time zones and always answered my questions during calls and through email. I worked with Barry for over a year preparing my application and he helped me understand that my non-traditional background was an advantage for my application.
Barry is a true wordsmith and knows how to make each word count. He helped edit my stories, personal statement, and essays, to make the most out of the word limit without compromising my intentions, experience and background. By doing so, we were able to fit more experiences and details in the essays using Barry’s method, which increased my chances during the application process.
Most of all, Barry gave me the confidence to know that I am a strong candidate for grad school and even though I’m applying at a later age than most, that can be advantageous. I just accepted Northeastern’s offer to enter their DPT program starting in Summer 2023, and this would not have been possible without Barry’s guidance.
I highly recommend Dr. Rothman! I got accepted into an AuD program at the school of my choice, thanks to his help! As an English learner, I struggled and was overwhelmed with my essays. Dr. Rothman took the time to know my background, my culture, my hearing loss and helped me convey these in my essays. As a result, my essays came out clear, concise, and reader-friendly. He also assisted me with my resume, advising me on what should be included to make it more polished and professional. From the very bottom of my heart, THANK YOU Dr. Rothman!!
Dr. Rothman was very helpful in my application process for a masters program and I appreciate it greatly. He was able to walk me through all the steps in a patient and easy to understand way. I needed the most help with my statement of purpose and research abstract and I definitely felt like I could not have written them without Dr. Rothman’s help. Even though organic chemistry was not his area of expertise, he was still able to understand my writing and help me improve the written portions. I also really appreciated the prewriting questionnaire he sent, as it was a great way for me to organize my thoughts and essay. Some other parts that he helped with were deciding on programs and asking for recommendation letters. Overall, I Dr. Rothman provided an invaluable amount of help and resources in this process and I would not have gotten to where I am without him. - Accepted to Masters Program
I began working with Dr. Barry Rothman after my unsuccessful first attempt at applying to medical school. Unsure how to best strengthen my case before re-applying, I had an initial call with Dr. Rothman, where he already began giving me targeted feedback on my past application. Through Zoom calls where he asked about my background, motivation for going into medicine, and goals, he gave me tailored advice that would help me grow not only as an applicant, but also a person. Over the past two years, he has helped me select a new clinical job and volunteer position, advised me about the best graduate courses to take, and patiently fielded my questions through Zoom and e-mail. We crafted a list of schools I would apply to, refined multiple drafts of my application and personal statement, and practiced various styles of interviewing. (For example, an admissions counselor recently said I “blew my interview out of the water” - in a good way! Thank you so much for all of the thoughtful practice sessions throughout our preparation.) Above all, Dr. Rothman challenged me to think about who I was, the world around me, and what kind of impact I want to leave behind. I will always be grateful for the personalized, comprehensive guidance Dr. Rothman provided. He was truly committed to my success and well-being, and I am so glad we had the chance to work together before my journey to medical school began. I highly recommend Dr. Rothman for those who want to put their best foot forward under the guidance of a patient, thorough, and kind advisor!
I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Barry Rothman for over two and a half years since I first began my pre-medical journey. As a nontraditional medical school applicant with unimpressive stats and lack of relevant experience, I had no idea if I could even apply to begin with. However, from the day Dr. Rothman took my case and began working with me, I have been able to not only improve my application, but also grow as an individual in both a professional and personal sense.
One of the main reasons I sought advising from Dr. Rothman was his expertise in post-baccalaureate work, and I can safely say that this decision is what allowed me to succeed this cycle despite my academic shortcomings. In addition to helping me decide what type of post-bacc to complete based on my unique situation, he also assisted me in choosing which upper-division courses to take. With his guidance, I was able to significantly improve my GPA and become a more competitive applicant.
Although I was intimated by the actual application process, Dr. Rothman alleviated my anxieties by demystifying the application process. He helped me brainstorm ideas for my personal statement and experiences, as well as provided me valuable feedback on my many drafts. Knowing how stressful this was for me, he gave me constant encouragement and kept me on track. Though I consider myself a reserved individual, I found it easy to speak with him because of his humor and wit. Having a consultant who I trusted and knew had my best interests at heart significantly reduced my worries and gave me the confidence I needed to manage my first application cycle.
Dr. Rothman also provided me excellent feedback on my secondary essays and, most importantly, assisted me with interview practice. Though I initially struggled with this, Dr. Rothman was patient, nonjudgmental, and encouraging. With his help, I improved my interview skills and also learned how to exhibit more confidence, something I always had difficulty with. All this preparation culminated in an acceptance into an osteopathic medical school I never would have believed would even consider my application for secondary review.
I have truly gotten to know Dr. Rothman well over the past few years and I am more grateful for his help than I could possibly put into words. Without him, I currently would not be preparing for the beginning of my medical school career, a dream that felt impossible not too long ago.
Thank you so much for all your help, Dr. Rothman! I am glad I could turn to you throughout this long but rewarding journey.
