Chat System Requirements and Setup
Accepted.com is excited to offer the DigiChat chat environment due to its speed,
stability, ease of use, relaxed setup requirements and unique, graphical interface. The
user-friendly DigiChat Applet runs on any Java enabled browser without any special
plug-ins or software to download. The following browsers will support the DigiChat Chat
Applet:
For Windows 95/98/NT/2000 users:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.0x and above
- Netscape Navigator versions 4.0x and above
- AOL versions 4.0x and above*
For Mac users:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 4.5x and above
- Netscape Navigator versions 4.0x and above
- AOL versions 4.0x and above*
*AOL users please note:
Due to issues which cause some Java Applets to suffer from display performance
degradation, DigiChat recommends that AOL users run the Chat Applet from an external
browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator/Communicator
using your AOL connection. While the built-in AOL browser should support the DigiChat
Applet, performance should be substantially enhanced via the use of an external browser.
What to Expect from Our Chat Software
To determine if your browser is equipped to run DigiChat, please logon to our chat site
prior to the chat. If the Chat window opens, you are prepared to join us for the scheduled
chat. Please verify that your browser is set-up to run Java Applets before proceeding. If
you have questions or comments, contact our Webmaster.
During the chat, the DigiChat Applet will open in a separate window after you logon
using a unique name or handle (nickname). You will have an opportunity to select a user
icon that will help to identify your posts, and you may also set the posts of specific
chat members to appear in a distinguishing color, among other options.
If you experience problems with our chat software, please consult the Chat Support
information that appears below. If you are still unable to logon or to operate our chat,
please notify us with a description of any error messages accompanied by your
comments by submitting an email to us.
Back-Up Chats
We take our commitments seriously, including the commitment to provide you
with a chat on the topic indicated at the time promised. We have chosen DigiChat
as our chat hosting service because it is known for ease of use and reliability.
But even with the best of intentions and good software, problems can occur. If
you are unexpectedly disconnected, try to reconnect. If you try repeatedly and
are unable to access the chat, it is possible that the server crashed. It has
happened. After learning the hard way that servers crash, we have decided to
always post a back-up date for chats.
In the event of catastrophic technical problems, we will convene at the
back-up time.
To ensure that you are notified of any changes or problems in the scheduling
of an upcoming chat, please e-mail
and put the date of the chat you intend to attend in the subject line of your
e-mail. Your e-mail address will only be used to inform you of problems or
changes in the scheduling of the indicated chat.
